Mary Kom to receive 'Legends Award' by AIBA

  • MC Mary Kom will be awarded the 'Legends Award' by Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) Five-time World Boxing champion on its 70th anniversary. 
  • Speaking on the honor, Mary Kom said, "This recognition from AIBA will encourage young boxers in our country to work hard. It is a very emotional as well as a motivating day for me."

Taj Balloon Festival 2016 begins in Agra
  •  UP tourism department  will organised the 'Taj Balloon Festival' 2016, it will take place between November 25-30 near the Taj Mahal in Agra. 
  • The festival will feature about 16 hot air balloons from 12 countries, including India, USA, UK, Canada, Spain, UAE, and Netherlands. Additionally, 40 lucky draw winners will get a free one-hour aerial ride during the festival.
7 Indian startups selected for Google Launchpad Accelerator
  • 7 Indian startups has selected Google to participate in the third edition of its Launchpad Accelerator program.
  • The selected mid to late stage startups include Flyrobe, HashLearn, RentoMojo, Capture CRM, Curvy, Happy Adda Studios and Payment. 
  • Google will provide them with $50,000 (₹34 lakh) in equity-free funding and a two-week all-expense paid boot camp at Google Headquarters in Silicon Valley.
Tata Steel removes Cyrus Mistry as Chairman
  • Tata Steel board on Friday announced that former Tata Sons head Cyrus Ministry will no longer serve as its Chairman. Independent director OP Bhatt has been appointed as the Interim Chairman till December 21. 
  • The board has also decided to convene an extraordinary general meeting to remove Ministry and independent director Nusli Wadia as directors on the company's board.
Delhi: Signal-free Vikaspuri-Wazirabad corridor inaugurated
  • The 23.6 km-long Vikaspuri-Wazirabad signal-free corridor in outer Delhi was opened to the public on Friday by the Delhi government. 
  • The corridor's last part, a six-lane flyover at Mukundpur Chowk, was inaugurated on Friday, which is expected to ease traffic congestion on the city's Outer Ring Road.
  • The corridor was conceptualised during the Sheila Dikshit-led government.
Manoj, Nawazuddin awarded at Asia Pacific Screen Awards
  •  On 10th Asia Pacific Screen Awards Actor Manoj Bajpayee was named the Best Actor for his film 'Aligarh' held in Brisbane, at Australia on Thursday. 
  • For the film 'Raman Raghav 2.0'.Nawazuddin Siddiqui won a special award mention in the Best Actor category.The Asia Pacific Screen Awards is said to be the region's highest accolade in films.
India's first underwater festival to be held in Pune
  • The Pune Underwater Festival, considered the first of its kind in India, will be held in Pune on Sunday. 
  • The festival will feature an underwater playground, an underwater photo booth and an underwater obstacle course. Visitors will also get a chance to play underwater hockey and water polo. The tickets range from ₹1,750 to ₹4,500.
Sindhu becomes highest-ranked Indian shuttler for 1st time
  • Saina Nehwal  has surpassed  by Saina Nehwal for the first time in the Badminton World Federation rankings to become the highest-ranked Indian shuttler. 
  • Sindhu jumped two spots to be ranked 9th, while Saina dropped five places to the 11th spot, which is her lowest ranking in seven years. Saina had not been outside the top 10 since entering it in 2009.
Vishnu Raj Menon wins 'Peter England Mr India' pageant
  • Bengaluru-based Vishnu Raj Menon was on Thursday selected as 'Peter England Mr India' at the grand finale of the pageant at Playboy Club Mumbai. 
  • The pageant, which reportedly received over 10,000 entries, selected Viren Barman as the first and Altamash Faraz as the second runner-up. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan was the celebrity guest at the event.
Bangladesh to honour 1,668 martyrs of the Indian Army
  • Bangladesh will honour 1,668 members of the Indian Army, who were martyred during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Their families will receive a Rs. 5 lakh purse as a mark of respect, said Liberation War Affairs Minister A.K.M. Mozammel Huq. 
  •  Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh will be in Delhi on 18-20 December to hand over the money, in Indian currency, to the martyrs’ family members.
Constitution day: 26th November
  • On 26th November the Constitution Day of India is being observed to spread awareness of Indian Constitution.
  • In 1949  On this day, constitution of India was adopted and came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in the history of free India. 
  •  The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE) is the nodal Ministry for the celebration of Constitution Day. 
  •  This year it is second edition of the Constitution Day.
  •  On this occasion Prime Minister Narendra has released two books on Constitution ‘Making of Constitution’ and ‘New Version of Constitution of India‘.
Center forms committee to push cashless transactions
  • The Union Government has constituted a new committee to form a strategy to expedite the process of transforming India into a cashless economy. 
  • The committee will be headed by Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant. 
  • It has been tasked with identifying various bottlenecks affecting access of digital payments.
Rajiv Gandhi assassin Nalini Sriharan to release book on prison life
  • Nalini Sriharan who has remained in prison for more than 24 years acclaiming the title as the longest serving women prisoner in India, has finally given a nod to release a book about her prison life. 
  • In it she explains about the torture she went through inside the prison and her surprise meeting with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
  • The book titled, ''Rajiv Gandhi assasin, hidden truths, Priyanka meeting Nalini'' was written by Egalaivan with Nalini's permission.
Culture ministry releases coins to mark 500th anniversary of Hindu saint
  • Shri Narendra Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Culture released a Commemorative Non-Circulation Coin of Rs.500 and a Circulation Coin of Rs.10 on November 25, 2016, to mark a year-long celebration of “500th Anniversary of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Coming to Vrindavan”. 
  • The Government of India is celebrating the ‘500th anniversary of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Coming to Vrindavan’ since a year by organizing various programmes and Exhibitions on Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s life and teachings in association with Vrindavan Research Institute and ISKCON.
South Indian Bank launches contactless debit card
  • The South Indian Bank based on Kerala has launched con tactless debit card which is based on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. 
  • Customers can also use this card as contact chip card. 
  •  If customers use this card at the con tactless PoS terminal, the customer simply has to just wave the card on the terminal and the payment is processed wire less in a fast and secure manner.
Senior journalist Dileep Padgaonkar passes away
  • Noted journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of the ‘Times of India’, Dilip Padgaonkar passed away on 25 November 2016, following a heart attack and multi-organ failure. 
  • He was 72. 
  • He began his career as a journalist in 1968 as The Times of India's Paris correspondent. He became the newspaper's editor in 1988, a post he held for six years.
Co-creator of MiG-29 Ivan Mikoyan dies aged 89
  • At the age of 89 Ivan Mikoyan, Russian aircraft designer and one of the minds behind the MiG-29 fighter jet has died.
  •  His uncle Artyom Mikoyan has founded and he was a lead engineer at MiG Aircraft Corporation's design bureau.
  • He awarded the USSR State Prize twice for his contributions to the MiG project and remained a company adviser until his death.
  • He had ruled Cuba as a one-party state for almost half a century (from 1976 to 2008) before handing over the powers to his brother Raul Castro in 2008 due to ill health.
