  • Aditi Ashok madeTeen golf sensation scripted in history on Sunday. 
  • She became the first Indian woman to win a Ladies European Tour title by clinching the Hero Women's Indian Open in Gurugram. 
  • Brittany and Belen finished tied second with identical totals of two-under 214 after 54 holes.
Island Club’s sports week begins today
  • The Island Club, Lagos’ sports week will commence today at the club house at Onikan.
  • The five-day sports fiesta, which is a forum for members to interact and create more bonds in a friendly environment, will end on Friday at the club’s Peacock Hall.
  •  Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, who is the special guest of honour and Oba Rilwanu Babatunde Osuolale Aremu Akiolu among top dignitaries expected at the closing ceremony.

  • Today a 5-day Singapore FinTech Festival starts. 
  • The inaugural Singapore FinTech Festival will bring together a series of distinct FinTech events back-to-back in the week of 14-18 November 2016.
Make in India’ award for Akshit Batra
  • The founder of I Can India a Dehradun-based company by Akshit Batra, was awarded the ‘Make in India Award’ by the Bharat Nirman Foundation in New Delhi.
  • Akshit won the award under the entrepreneurship category. The award was given by the Chief Imam of India, Dr Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, who is the United Nations Peace Ambassador.
Satendra, Meena win ‘Maa Ganga’ marathon
  • Satendra Singh of Army won the 21.1-km ‘Maa Ganga’ Marathon in men’s category.  Centre, Hyderabad.
  • Meena from Buladshahar, Uttar Pradesh, won the women’s event, organised from Roshanabad till Har-ki-Pauri. 
  •  The first runners up were given Rs 75,000 while the second runners up were given Rs 50,000 and both the winners were rewarded with cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin arrives in India for six-day visit
  • Terming India as a “close friend”, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin arrived in Mumbai for a six-day visit to India to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries that he said were places of “innovation and inspiration”.
  • Rivlin, who arrived with a large delegation of businessmen and academics, will join President Pranab Mukherjee in opening an agro-tech conference in Chandigarh, hold meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and visit several sites of cooperation and joint projects between the two countries.
India Surfing Festival
  • Scores of surfers have gathered in Konark city, Odisha, for the fifth edition of the India Surfing Festival. 
  • The three-day event has attracted enthusiasts from across the world. It offers people the chance to participate in workshops, competitions, musical events and much more.
  • During its course from Saturday to Monday, the festival, this time, will also host the Stand Up Paddle Championship.

  • President-elect Donald J. Ryan, could help secure early legislative victories. 
  • The dual appointments with Mr. Bannon given top billing in the official announcement — instantly created rival centers of power in the Trump White House.

World Diabetes Day: 14 November
  • The World Diabetes Day is observed across the world on 14 November. 
  • The theme for this year is "Eyes on Diabetes". World Diabetes Day is an annual campaign, led by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and its member associations.
  •  It is celebrated every year on 14 November and engages millions of people worldwide in diabetes advocacy and awareness.

Federal Bank to open its first overseas branch in Dubai
  •  India's major commercial bank in the private sector has received Reserve Bank of India (RBI)'s permission to open its first international branch at the Dubai International Financial Centre of Federal Bank.
APEC Forum's Week starts in Lima, Peru
  • The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum's Week started at Lima in Peru today bringing together leaders of world's largest economies, businessmen and investors. 
  • A creation of Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, which would include all APEC states, is one of the main topics on the agenda of the 2016 APEC Summit that is widely seen as the premier business event drawing together business and economic leaders of 21 Pacific Rim countries.
Fortune magazine named Mark Zuckerberg Business Person of the Year
  • Mark Zuckerberg  is Fortune magazine has named the co-founder and CEO of the biggest social networking site Facebook, Business Person of the Year, 2016.
  •  Zuckerberg is 32-year-old, was honored based on various criteria, including the company’s performance year over year as well as his vision for growth and the ability to achieve it.
Mauritius PM Anerood Jugnauth to visit Mumbai on November 18
  • Mauritius Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth is set to visit the city on November 18, where he is expected to discuss various issues, including one that provides a subsidy for Bollywood films shot there, with the Maharashtra government.
5 decades and 200 films later, Jackie Chan 'finally' wins Oscars
  • Hollywood actor Jackie Chan received his little gold statuette, an honorary Oscar for his decades of work in film on November 13th at the annual Governors Awards.
  • During receiving the award Chan (62) praised his hometown Hong Kong for making him "proud to be Chinese," and thanked his fans.

  •  Pawan Goenka  appointed as Managing Director and Anand Mahindra was redesignated as executive chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra.
  • In 1993 Goenka joined Mahindra as general manager, R&D. 
  • He was elevated as president of the automotive division in 2005, head of automotive and farm equipment vertical in 2010 and as executive director on the board in 2013.
Molinari Rail to set up manufacturing unit in India
  • Swiss major Molinari Rail will set up a manufacturing and assembly center for auxiliary power units for diesel locomotives in India by next year. 
  • Molinari Rail AG has entered into a strategic pact to design, manufacture and deliver the auxiliary power units (APUs) for 1,000 diesel locomotives to be built in India for Indian Railways.
Gulzar named for Tata LitFest's Poet Laureate 2016 award
  •  Gulzar Lyricist-writer will be honoured with 2016 Tata Literature Live! Poet Laureate Award. 
  • The award will be presented to Gulzar, an Oscar and Grammy Award winner, at the inaugural of the festival on November 17.
Israel President arrives in Mumbai on 6-day visit to India
  • Israel President Reuven Rivlin arrived in Mumbai on November 14th on a six-day visit to India to further strengthen bilateral ties. 
  • He will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
  • The Israeli leader will join President Pranab Mukherjee in opening an agro-tech conference in chandigarh.
Indian-origin humanitarian gets Global Citizen Award
  • An Indian-origin man from South Africa was awarded the Global Citizen Award for his "innovative and visionary" contribution to the global community.
  •  Imtiaz Sooliman founded the internationally-lauded Gift of the Givers Foundation, which is Africa's largest disaster relief organisation. 
  • It will build faith and confidence in others to support African NGOs in the future.
